when
you "buy" it is from bots and low quality traffic. For example,
traffic you get from "pay to surf" programs is useless because
they're
not interested in your site - they just want the few cents they get
by
opening your site in their browser.
Visits from bots are worse. A couple of pay-per-click programs
actually claim to send human traffic to your site but they actually
deploy bots instead (quicker, easier and cheaper for them). So if
you
are running Adsense on your site, these bots are going to be
registered as false impressions. They only serve to artificially
inflate your ad impressions, but Google sees them as a ploy to
manipulate them and will ban you if it becomes chronic. That's why
there are many calls for help from webmasters who inadvertently get
banned not knowing that the traffic they bought caused all their
headaches.
