Unfortunately, this business you have started is increasingly
difficult to break into. As a programmer, I have worked on the
Hotels.com and Expedia.com projects, as well as working for Air
Canada, etc. I can tell you from experience that the margins are
RAZOR thin in the travel industry, as more and more people go online
to shop for tickets and bookings themselves.
To be successful, you really have to specialize in a tight niche.
Pick a specific destination, and specialize only in that destination -
know everything about it, from the local markets to the public
toilets. Become your client's best friend if they are planning to go
there.
Then, blog about this location. Set up an internet blog where you can
discuss this location, and talk about how great it is. Always try to
capture an email address, so that you are able to offer special deals
to people interested in this specific destination.
If you want to work in several location niche, they should be seperate
- i.e. have a blog for each one, and perhaps even different company
logos and names. For example, you can run "Bahamas Paradise Travel,
Inc." and seperately run "Greek Islands Paradise Travel, Inc."
But definately, this is going to take some work. You won't be able to
just send people to that website - albeit very well presented - and
expect to make a good living.
