Yes that is a unique name. I am not one that likes to reveal even that much personal information in my business ventures. I might be over the top on this but I admit it. I would not use my real name but a business name or maybe just an initial.
Sometimes a theme for your business could flow with a name.
Christian theme --> utilizing obvious biblical motifs
Simple "Christian Kids Care" which would transition to "Christian Kids Camp." You can change the "c" in care to "k" if this one is already taken although that might still be confusing locally. There are many off shoots from here with various biblical thematic possibilities (Noah's ark, David & Goliath, etc).
Pirate theme (very popular now) --> you can decorate with pirate themed walls and motifs
"Captain Kids Care" which could transition to "Capitan Kids Camp." A pun intended play on Captain Kidd (you might want to study this guy a little - he might not be something that you would want association with).
A local summer camp in our area - targeting 3 to 10 year olds does the same one week day care camp every year simply called "Safety Town." They just go over things like knowing your address. How to call 911 - stranger/danger - crossing the street, ... for the whole week during normal public school hours.
Safety is a definite parental trigger --> "Safe "T's" Kid Care" --> obviously playing off your initial and invoking the parental "safety" trigger. And then transition to "Safe "T's" Town" or "... Camp," .... With your initial being "T" you could have "T" shirts for the children to wear during their time at your house - helps you recognize when one may try to escape (especially if you choose bright neon colors - maybe a different color for each day of the week, keeping the shirts are your center). But there is also some things that you could sell to the parents revolving around the safety theme like, outlet covers, cabinet safety latches, child proofing DVDs, books on how to teach your children things like their address, phone number and dialing 911, etc. This gives your daycare - camp business another stream of income automatically right from the start. Kind of a small catalog to offer your parents extra material to teach at their home. You would not need to keep a large stoc
k on hand and a web-site would probably also enhance your revenue.
I kind of like the safety theme as well. Most often child care may concentrate on ABCs and 123s. You would focus on the child memorizing address, phone number, 911, etc. Recognizing when to dial 911, etc., these are things that parents do not always have fully covered in normal "quality" time.
I visualize a kid's tee shirt something like "Safe "T's" All Star," with several stars not colored in. Let the child color in their star with a sharpie permanent marker - when they accomplish a task like memorizing their address. And then color in another star when they memorize their telephone number, etc. Obviously you would have to teach them some ABCs and 123s for this but it has a focused curriculum around the safety theme. A star for ABCs, one for 123s, field trips to the fire stations or have a fireman & police officer visit - these are things that most communities do for free with little age appropriate books to color for the children. Anyway - you can take this one and run in many different directions as well when you go with the camps. The camp themes can be age appropriate, substance abuse, fire safety, stranger/danger, weather safety, etc.
A funny wrinkle on this is get a Mohawk wig and have the kids call you "Mrs T" - "I pity the fool who messes with Mrs T's kids." I digress (obviously).
If you want to focus on academics or other themes again you can brainstorm around those themes.
One class that we had at our homeschool co-op was for kids 10 and up on survival. Which we covered everything from plane crash, building fire, to making survival shelters and solar stills. We also covered some basic (normal Boy Scout) first aid. This was a really big hit with the older kids - many of them watch those survivor shows on Discovery. There are many times that the narrators in those survivor shows make huge mistakes which can be quite misleading (like not staying put when you get lost - instead they always go off looking for civilization or getting to a safe place first which usually entails a shelter - people will die of exposure in a mater of minutes - some shows focus on food first). This is obviously not a daycare theme but a definite camp theme ("Survivor ...." using your community's name - like "Survivor Cleveland Camp").
Any way, I hope this helps, God Bless, Ed R.
