Re: [entrepreneurs] Promotional Domains

I haven't done it, but it sounds to me like a FANTASTIC idea! Everybody loves a contest or give away.

You could possibly in the same commercial offer free door prizes for those that come by and watch the contest. Then you could get their name and address, etc. You could offer gift certificates from your shop, but also throw in local restaurant cards or the all time favorite...a free iPod.
Can you think of a jingle for the shop?
You can have a contest for that maybe?
How about offering one day a month as Student Day and anyone with a student I.D. gets a "special" discount on that day only? Because you know how tough it is to pay for college':D

Hope you have a ton of fun and lots of new customers!
Kim

Subject: [entrepreneurs] Promotional Domains

Has anybody tried this?

I'm getting ready to run a "Spokesperson" contest for my shop. (The
idea is to use the contest as a way to bring local college students
into the shop. And who knows - I may just find a spokesperson!)

Anyway, we're promoting the contest with radio commercials.
Unfortunately a URL like "urbanvillagescooters.com/contest1" doesn't
do well on radio. It's hard to remember, and even worse to say clearly
in a time-limited ad. So after some discussion with my media guy I
went out and purchased a bunch of "contest" domains.

I've set up urbanvillagecontest.com to point to the contest entry page
on my website. I also went out and set up an aweber account to accept
the registrations and automatically send the contest paperwork.
Technically everything works the way it's supposed to (or will once I
receive the contest paperwork).

My question is has anyone here ever done something like this? If so,
what was your experience? How well did it work for you?

It seems crazy to me to register a domain for an event that's going to
be done in two weeks, but hey! That's the way things go sometimes!
