I have never done it (but I have participated in college radio station contests many moons ago). College students should enjoy this. You might offer the spokesperson (or random "enter to win" raffle) a free semester lease on a scooter - complete with your jacket and prominent logo on it.
If you got your window promo up - you might want to put the local college school colors in the window.
A couple of domain names I checked (that are still available) that might roll of the tongue a bit smoother:
cheapridecontest
uvcontest
littlegascontest
lesscarboncontest (if you want to "green" advertise)
500freegas (if you want the prize to be a $500 gas card)
freegasallyear (give out $25 gas cards once a month)
These were all available when I sent this e-mail. The free gas might bring in the biggest crowd - something everyone is sensitized to right now. I guess you could look at lower amounts of gas cards - maybe have one $200 card and 2 $100 and 2 $50 - to give out five prizes. Maybe check with your local merchants - maybe the local pizza guy might want in on your contest and give away free pizzas as well. College student - free food and gas --> 30 years ago, I would be there. Heck, if I was local I would be there.
Getting the domain names are really not that much any more. You could use the same promotions every year - an annual contest. With the free gas all year promo - you can give it away to registered customers on your web-site. My dentist does this - gives away $25 gas card once a month, when you fill out her customer survey - you get entered into a drawing.
I hope, I win, God Bless, Ed R.
