[entrepreneurs] The power of nine

I am not sure if everyone has heard of this marketing term or not but thought I would mention it anyway. I heard about this a few years back and after reading about it I really understood what it meant. I have looked all over for the information but I cannot find it at the moment. It basically goes like this; if you sell anything and you want a market edge over your competition always end your pricing with 9. For example I have xyz listed for 250.00 and this item has not sold very well so I change the pricing to 249.99 now compare the two side by side $250.00 = $249.99 which looks cheaper? I started looking around and seen the power of nine everywhere I looked. Gas pumps, retail chains basically all over the place. So being the type of person that I am I asked myself how could I try this out with at least 10,000 people and all of them being different ages and from all over the world. My answer was simple; I personally play an online game with at least
10,000 people and they are from all over the world and in game they have an auction house for players to sell items. I listed an average of ten items with the same pricing example I used above and they all sold faster than everyone else. Needless to say in game I made a lot of money and it proved to me that the power of nine is a marketing work horse. I will continue to look for the information and when I find it I will post it here for everyone to read
