Yes, the psychological impact of seeing a price that is "less" than $250 (or
whatever number) does generate more sales. I think perhaps people think of
$249.99 as being $240 something which is less than $250. Weird how our minds
work. :-)
I heard somewhere that when it comes to Internet marketing that the number 7
tends to generate more sales. Pricing items at $9.97, $19.97 or even $17.77
or $77.77 will make more sells than prices ending in 9.
Of course the only way to know for sure which price works best is to test
different price points with YOUR customers because what works well on MY
products may not work at all with yours.
I believe it was Einstein who said something like, "If it wasn't for the
number 9 I could figure out the meaning of the universe." Maybe he was on to
something!
