Re: [entrepreneurs] business advisors

Annessa,

I would want to hire successful advisors. I am not that interested in their credentials as much as their successes and batting average. I would want references that I am allowed to call and quite possibly a past client list, with permission to call anyone on the list.

Have the advisors tell you what they have done for previous clients and then get permission to verify. The example might be someone telling you that they think your web-site updated will improve your income. Ask them to give you examples of past work that has shown where the income increased when they modified someone's web-site. Because they might not be business advisors - just web-site builders. Ask for other examples not involving web-sites. I am not saying that an improved web-site will not bring in more money. I am saying that you want to get the full breadth of their expertise. Are they soup to nuts advisors or just insurance agents or web builders, etc?

I hope this helps, God Bless, Ed R
