Re: [entrepreneurs] I have the same question about internet traffic

Hi,

Some other ideas for getting online traffic would include setting up some
Squidoo lenses, one for each keyword, Then get people to go vote for each
lens. I heard someone say to set up as many as 10 for each of your sites.
They are easy to set up. I did one today in 1/2 an hour. You can put your
RSS feed on it, Youtube videos, Amazon items (sign up for an Amazon
affiliate id), and more.

Mine is pretty basic but you can take a look at it if you want:

You need to submit each lens to StumbleUpon, too. Are you familiar with that
social bookmarking site? It's easy to join, then you place the StumbleUpon
thing in your toolbar, go to your site, and click on the thumbs up. The tool
for the toolbar is near the top of this page, on the right:

You can also set up a Twitter.com account and post to it. You can set it up
to receive your RSS feeds from your blog, then every time you post to your
blog your Twitter page gets updated. After you have your Twitter page set up
for your keyword, join some other Twitter users. They label that as
"following". "Followers" are the people following your Twitter page. Twitter
is not for link love, it's for getting people to visit your Twitter page and
clicking on the link to see your site.

There is also Pownce.com and Tumblr.com which are sites similar to Twitter,
and all used by online marketers to get visitors to their sites. Pownce,
Twitter, and Tumblr are all micro-blogging sites.

Get a good ping list for your blog and make sure that when you write a post
"allow pings" is selected (find it under "discussion" if you are using
Wordpress). Here's a ping list that is only 1 year old:

Make comments at other blogs that are in the same niche as yours, giving
your URL. If you are one of the first to write a comment so that you are at
the top of the comments just under the post, more people will see it and
some will click on your link (especially if the comment is informative).

Submit your articles to ezinearticles.com. Ask other bloggers in your niche
if you can make a guest post and include a text link in it to your site. Ask
friends to submit your articles and original blog posts to sites like
StumbleUpon, Digg.com, Propeller.com, Mixx.com, and other social news sites.

If you can get a post or article on the first page of Digg you will get
thousands of visitors. But you can't submit the article or post yourself,
you have to get someone else to do it. And then you have to get friends to
vote for it. If the post is something that grabs people, others will start
voting on it and it will take off.

This is stuff I've been learning lately. Hope you can use some of it. I
appreciate what you are selling, and I think a lot of people feel the same
way. Who wants to be dependent on the electric company for their power,
especially in California where we often have rolling blackouts, brownouts,
and so on. It's a mess.
