I've done some study on network marketing companies. If you read some of Tim Sales' articles, he talks about different companies, including Ponzi schemes. He is an independent supporter/trainer of Network Marketing.
As I've mentioned, I'm a Usana Associate. I chose this company because it fits with what I believe in. I tell all my prospects to look at Usana and compare it with the other companies they are looking at. I insist that they get enough information to make an informed decision, whether it's to join our team or another. It doesn't matter, as long as it is a viable company and the decision was made with information.
Tim Sales has a video called Brilliant Compensation. I highly suggest watching this. It is an independent, third party video only talking about what to look for in a network marketing company and what to watch out for.
I hope this helps.

Subject: [entrepreneurs] Re: What's a good home business to start?
I have visited the dream teamers website.
It seems like an online network marketing company to me.
My opinion the internet is that it is a great advertisement &
marketing channel.
No disrespect to any individuals but I do not believe in online
network marketing. If there's no products involved, this business
model will be classified as a Ponzi Scheme, where the business solely
depends on the number game of the network matrix to survive. Unless
there are products like domains, that will be a different story.
However, I do strongly believe that internet marketing is one of the
best form advertisement methods. Most consumers such as me uses
search engines to look for information on products & services. We are
into the era of Information Marketing.
I believe information marketing is one of the best solutions against
the destructive "price war" syndrome, which is too common nowadays
iregardless of trade & industries.
Consumer nowadays are seeking for the experts of respective
industries, the more quality information they receive, the more awe &
respect they will give to the individuals, hence justifying the
reason to raise the asking price.
With so much saturation & competition in the market nowadays,
especially with the rise of cost effective countries like China,
India & Vietnam etc, we can't beat them on the price war. We can only
beat them on our expertise while they are not fully developed yet.
Hope that my opinion does not make anyone feel bored or turned off.
